In a bizarre collaboration that breaks usual forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Revealed

According to the authorized release, "A strange confrontation draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where hints of forbidden rituals and monstrous changes echo through the shadows." The storyline presents a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a secret group.

The mission centers on "bizarre tests and a fearsome foe" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Transformations

The teaser features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview ends with a dramatic scene showing a character, probably the hostage, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Prizes and Additional Material

Players who finish the mission will obtain an unique katana together with multiple objects hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique implements
• Survey Corps mount

Latest Free Story Update

This patch also adds the game's third complimentary story addition, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature techniques: Naoe reveals a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Japanese Animation Collaborations

This marks hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime properties. The series formerly featured a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that obviously referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
