A Pair of Detentions Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault caused the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody related to a theft at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

The arrests follow a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of several people injured by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
